Melodious vocals, smooth electric lines and a
strong groove characterise the soulful sound of West Australian based One Tiger Down.
"These guys know an absolute shit load about blues / soul / roots music.
You just can't fake this kind of thing."
- Jaymes Brown, Drum Media
The ‘Year of the Tiger’ has begun at full speed for One Tiger Down (OTD), with the band performing at the 2010 Southbound Festival and confirmed to take part in the West Coast Blues & Roots Opening Party in March. OTD have gone from strength to strength, recently releasing a self-funded single and successfully touring the South West; gaining growing attention from record labels and the public alike. The band look to 2010 with anticipation and hope to build upon the solid reputation and success they have created over the past two-and-a-half years.
Winning hearts and minds with their sweet collection of original songs, OTD’s latest single ‘Bow & Arrow’ recently received a fantastic review in Drum Media. The collaboration with producer engineer Laurie McCallum (Boys Boys Boys and The Russian Winters) captured the bigger sound of the now four piece and has built on the reputation their successful debut EP created.
"One Tiger Down make an upbeat and memorable Perth-pop sound with a soul. ‘Bow & Arrow’ showcases Tim Bott’s honest and clear vocals. B-side ‘Take What You Want’ is a highlight that calls on American classics like The Eagles, then updates, slows down and adds a groove. Lovely”
- Daniel Parkinson, Drum Media
Playing to a capacity crowd, OTD launched their debut self titled EP in late 2008 which sold out in local record stores shortly after. Another sold out show at Mojos in March 2009 for the film clip premiere of ‘Wise Yung Yu’ and its inclusion on the ‘Kiss My WAMi 09’ compilation are indicators that One Tiger Down’s EP has perhaps been a roaring success.
“...a relaxed and impressive set with strong lounge vibes left more than a few wishing the set would go on longer.”
- Jason Kenny, Drum Media
Following numerous tours to the South West and with a loyal fan base in Perth, OTD set their sights on the East coast and played a string of shows in Melbourne in early June 2009`. With some of the members having never left Perth before, OTD returned from a flourishing Melbourne music scene with a stronger live performance and an itch for further tours after having had the time of their lives.
With 2009 yielding so much for One Tiger Down, 2010 is already geared up to be bigger. Having played at Southbound and soon to be at Blues & Roots, OTD are moving ahead in leaps and bounds and still have so much more to offer, so in 2010, keep your Eye on the Tiger.

where there seems to be no right or wrong...
as long as you follow the rules...
or you have the money to break them.
